Irish Music, Songs & Dance Feat. Tony DeMarco & Alan Murray
As an ambassador for Irish song and dance, Tony DeMarco gathers the best musicians and dancers to present the ultimate evening of traditional Irish entertainment.
A Brooklyn native of mixed Italian and Irish ancestry, Tony DeMarco is one of the finest fiddlers in North America. He is recognized on both sides of the Atlantic as a leading master of the celebrated County Sligo style made famous in the 78-rpm era by Michael Coleman and other emigrant Irish fiddlers in New York.
Tony is the founding director of New York Trad Fest, an annual extravaganza of Irish and other traditional music that has been a feature of the Big Apple cultural calendar since 2013. If you’d like to hear the “Tradfather” in person, drop in on a Sunday night at the 11th Street Bar in New York’s East Village, where Tony has been leading an elite acoustic session for over twenty years.
Guitarist, bouzouki player and singer Alan Murray lives in Boston, Massachusetts where he has established himself as an in-demand performer and teacher on the Irish music scene.
He currently plays and tours around the world with many of the finest traditional musicians and acts today, and has taught classes at such prestigious music programs as Warren Wilson college’s Swanannoa Gathering, Catskills Irish Arts Week, Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, The O’Flaherty Retreat, as well as masterclasses in Irish and Celtic music at the University of Louisiana and Connecticut’s Scared Heart University.
